So lovely to connect with you here, even under such sad and disappointing circumstances. My hope is that the City of Livermore will find another organization to take over. I have started a nonprofit called Autism A to Z, and the board is discussing whether it would be viable for us to take up the challenge of running an adaptive riding program. I know the need is great, so if not Autism A to Z, I am hopeful another organization will come forward.

I cannot tell you how sad we were to hear the news of the center closing. We understand the struggle so many center go through, most of the issues often being board and ED difficulties. We know what need there is in the greater bay area for equine-based therapies, so we are always sad to learn when a program closes. I am not sure what our center can do to help, but we would be happy to try. I can only imagine how disappointing this is for your daughter.

These board members never exhibited much passion for the mission, so not sure why they would want to take it over in first place. They also seemed to confuse a for-profit corporation with a nonprofit. The Treasurer, in particular, would complain Barb wasn’t “making a profit.” Plus there was a lot of money set aside for a covered arena and the arena was never built but they are claiming to be out of money. So there are still many unanswered questions.

The City is reviewing everything before they will be allowed to turn over the keys so we may get more answers in time. I hope so. Livermore residents deserve to know.
